our story

As the story goes.....

During the summer of 2021, I was chatting with two teen girls on a local dock. I asked, ” Are you excited to go back to school?” Their quick reply,” Yes, because we get to join the Pride Club,” made my heart to sink. While continuing to chat with them, I inquired: ” Does the school offer aChristian club?” To this day my heart is haunted by their harmonious response, “What’s that?” While attending a Phil Wickham concert in March of 2022, I heard him sing “The Blessing” byKari Jobe. My heart was overwhelmed with God’s love for the youth of our generation and His desire to bless them along with future generations:

May His favor be upon you

And a thousand generations

And your family and your children

And their children and their children…

He is for you…He is with you…Amen

We need to help the students/children of our generation because many of them are confused and hurting and want to belong to a Christian club to find comfort and hope in Jesus. I along with others began praying into that endeavor. In September of 2022, a group of praying grandmas birthed the Blessing Group with the mission statement of being “the hands and feet of Jesus caring for students and supporting staff.” The Blessing Group is currently made of five local churches. God has brought a team together with the skills needed to help start Christianclubs and be a blessing to staff.

Currently, we are bringing monthly or bi-monthly baskets of snacks with an encouraging card to eight schools in our district, and we are helping to support the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meetings at Gig Harbor and Peninsula High Schools. A Facebook post showing 30 students with heads bowed in prayer for their school at Gig Harbor High School received 3,000 Facebook views within 48 hours along with likes and positive comments. After that post, we started receiving requests from parents, a teacher, and students who wanted Christian clubs in their schools. God has provided the way for the Blessing Group to become a faith-based non- profit organization to help with that endeavor. Right now, we are focusing on starting clubs at the middle schools and are hoping to expand to elementary in the future.

Finally, we are asking you if you would please join us in prayer and donations to help us grow to be able to help more students and bless more staff? All donations are tax deductible.
